RAMsterdam 2013 is a marvelous 15-track release from RAM Records, featuring d&b from many artists you are probably familiar with, and possibly some new names as well. Lots of different approaches and sounds to be found here, from more 'laid back' and liquid old-school type d&b to the newer, more in-your-face and more futuristic approach.
A few of the tracks became my favorites of course. Number one would be the embedded track, "Bluescreens" from Strike One. I don't really have to say much about it, put on a pair of headphones, crank up the volume and listen closely!
Really liked "Warrior" by Loadstar as well, with a classic break approach, I feel it being similar to "Shellshock" which is a good thing indeed.
If squares and hectic melodies are your thing, you'll probably also like "Let The Story Begin" by Sub Focus, I sure did.
So if you're looking for some great drum and bass, from artists you can trust to deliver (Noisia, Wilkinson, Loadstar, Calyx & TeeBee amongst others) but also try something new, I definitely recommend getting this album for the handful of dollars that it would cost you.

Halloween is coming up once again. Personally I really like this time of the year, the weather, the parties, wearing entertaining costumes and, of course, watching horror movies.
Figure is once again back with a cavalcade of horror music, 'tis the season indeed. A strong release according to me, a more well rounded sound (but still iconic) and with a touch of musical development showing from Figure. It is also lifted by some of the featured artists, most prominent in 'Center of Hell'.
The favorites that stuck out to me would be 'The Crypt' and 'The Devil', two very intense but also not too high-pitch reliant tunes.

Excited about this one! An EP from KOAN Sound and Asa, which seems to blend styles very well. Beautiful melodies and intricate glitch breaks intertwined. 'This Time Around' sounds promising to me, and I am wondering if 'Fuego' is a nod towards Dresden Files? 'Tetsuo's Redemption' surely has me hyped as well, 22nd October will be something to look forward to.

I think Diplo can sometimes swing real wide (which is positive and brave), and sometimes miss by a degree or two, but there are some hits in this release for sure. Really digging Biggie Bounce overall. The vocals on Revolution are great but the full-on trap section is no ground breaker To me, Crown could use some shaved high-pitch, besides that it's a huge tune.
Rock Steady, well, Action Bronson is the man. Some really good sections in the Boaz van de Beatz remix of Revolution, and TWRK's remix was an alright complement to Biggie Bounce.
