KOAN Sound & Asa - Sanctuary EP [Preview]
Excited about this one! An EP from KOAN Sound and Asa, which seems to blend styles very well. Beautiful melodies and intricate glitch breaks intertwined. 'This Time Around' sounds promising to me, and I am wondering if 'Fuego' is a nod towards Dresden Files? 'Tetsuo's Redemption' surely has me hyped as well, 22nd October will be something to look forward to.
You can pre-order Sanctuary via this link!

Diplo - Revolution EP
I think Diplo can sometimes swing real wide (which is positive and brave), and sometimes miss by a degree or two, but there are some hits in this release for sure. Really digging Biggie Bounce overall. The vocals on Revolution are great but the full-on trap section is no ground breaker To me, Crown could use some shaved high-pitch, besides that it's a huge tune.
Rock Steady, well, Action Bronson is the man. Some really good sections in the Boaz van de Beatz remix of Revolution, and TWRK's remix was an alright complement to Biggie Bounce.

CYBERPUNKERS - Whatta Mask EP
CYBERPUNKS, a duo consisting of two masked DJ's from Italy, released a new EP just recently. It consists of three songs, all quite different from each other. My favorite was the one that I embedded here, "Mad Armada". A really uplifting track, nice arps and filtering action and also a cool breakdown section!
I liked the title track "Whatta Mask" as well, it was more aggressive and had a nice drive to it, reminded me of something off of "Invaders Must Die". Ogre's Ballad was a hit and miss I'd say, some lazy synths mixed in there, I think complextro has been laid to rest by now anyway.
All in all, a nice and well-produced EP for a modest price! Get it here.

The Upbeats - Alone EP [Out April 15th]
A new, great, EP from The Upbeats. Interesting stuff, ranging from mellow to intense, mainly d&b but other noticeable influences as well! A nice opening tune featuring Tasha Baxter (who did a great job on Feed Me - Cloudburn) and also a rough-in-the-jungle tune feat. Noisia!
A free download is available for the Noisia collab song, here.
Nicely enough, the EP is currently there in its entirety, but will be released for sale on April 15th!

Dirtyphonics - DIRTY (+Remixes)
I think that Dirtyphonics should get some rep for being one of those that deliver on a consistent basis. Here's the first single, "DIRTY", from their upcoming EP, "IRREVERENCE".
Couldn't embed the actual "set", but it contains this song + 4 remixed versions of it.
Definitely worth going here for the Metrik remix alone!

KOAN Sound - The Adventures of Mr. Fox EP Teaser
EP teaser from KOAN Sound! Well, I is excited, yo. Sounds like there's going to be some classic KOAN-break bass coolness delivered from this one.
The names were entertaining, like "Eastern Thug", with the little depiction of a Harem G, and "80's Fitness", because haha, you funny, 80's fitness.
Out 9/4/2012 on OWSLA, so be there or be esquire.

Drum and bass all-stars Noisia are back, busting out some serious synths and beats in this new EP! Four intense songs, all of them DnB this time around. The songs are all there in full length, which is quite nice. Once you've figured out that buying this EP is probably a pretty good idea, you can do so by clicking here!

Figure - The Brink & Oblivion - Dead in Space EP
Figure released this like almost a month ago, so I wouldn't say I'm up to speed on this post. It is a great song though and to hell with staying up to date. Excellent drums as per usual, but what intrigued me the most was the cool trance synth thing. Next time there's a Need For Speed game getting made, this should be in it.
Also, this is a free download, so why don't you go ahead and freely download it from here.
An EP has been released by this here Oblivion, on DOOM Music, and it is cool stuff! In particular, I liked this song with some of the funky vibes. I have no good explanation for why I could pick this out, but I'm pretty sure there's a Naruto sample or two in that song. Uuuh, anyway, you can get this EP via this link!
I also think you should click here and check out DOOM Music, those folks are A-Okay in my book!

Knife Party - '100% No Modern Talking' EP
Knife Party - '100% No Modern Talking' EP by Knife Party
By now, most people have heard about the sweetness that is Knife Party. This entire EP is fresh as hell, and it's also free. Just head over to this link and download it.
It's a great mix of different genres with unique flavors, and possibly influences from other artists in some songs (possibly).
Take a listen for yourself and see if you diggin' it.

Kill the Noise - Kill Kill Kill EP
I heard Kill the Noise the first time when Feed Me put out his Big Adventure. But Kill the Noise has been around a lot longer, and the blasts from the past-tunes are a testament to his skill. Kill the Noise is definitely living up to his name. This new EP of his is some of the craziest stuff I've heard in a long time, some sincerely incredible songs. Insane dubstep and electro and even a drum & bass remix from KOAN mfkin' Sound (and it is completely mental as well).
So many synonyms for psychological instabilities in that paragraph, it is what youtube comments do to your mind. According to Kill the Noise, a year without releasing any music was spent to make this EP, salutations for that. All to often EP's get churned out and contains 4-5 decent songs, but this one has 10 top quality tunes.
I would advise you to purchase this and show some love.
Hit dat Beatport link my friend.

Kannamix - Consensual Rape EP
Kannamix - Consensual Rape - EP (out now!) by HEAVY ARTILLERY RECS
The name is kinda off-putting at start. But I guess if you think about it, consensual means that both parts agree. Though this confuses me since when is rape ever consensual?
Anyway. New cool release on Heavy Artillery from Kannamix. Some pretty fancy melodies in some parts of those songs I'd say, interesting shit. The "lead" song, being Consensual Rape, features a bunch of those fancy melodies.
Uppercut - Geoff Bukk rmx is a phat ass track, too.
I'd say it's a good release, and you can buy the whole shebang right here if you'd like to.
As always, big ups to Heavy Artillery for always posting sweet new releases on the BP wall!

Ajapai - Energize EP release
Been waiting for this EP to come out for a long time. Since Excision released X-Sessions I think. If you haven't heard the song Energize or any of the other previews before you should totally listen to them by clicking here (well except for Energize itself 'cus it's like, right up there).
The sound is just way different, I can't recall anything that sounds like this, it's all crazy but it's still organized. Safe to say, unique dubstep to the very least.
Anyway I think it'd be best for everybody if you just bought that EP right here.

RSK - Krushin' Skulls EP (Out Now!) by HEAVY ARTILLERY RECS
RSK is a veteran artist. He makes tunes with great diversity, ranging from dubstep too moombhatoon. One of my favorite tunes in dubstep is RSK & Doctor P - Black Books. This release comes from Heavy Artillery records. I couldn't find anywhere to buy it but it should be available for buying somewhere so, go find it!
Really feeling Kinky Slinky, banging rank 1 tune for sure!

Terravita Interview + Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Release
I'm sorry for being so Slow with this. Seriously fucking lightning killed my internet the day before I recieved the Terravita interview answers. Yeah... screw you nature, what's your problem?
On to business. Terravita released the 'Dirty Rottun Scoundrels' EP about 2 weeks ago on Rottun Recordings. Having Terravita as one of my favorite groups, I had to ask them about an interview. I listened to the previews upon their released and I loved it. No more space for ramblin'. Go grab a copy of the EP from beatport, have a listen to the previews while you read the interview and wait for the download.
Fuckin' A, Terravita baby.
___________________________________________________________________________
B - You're more of a group, which is quite unusual in this scene since acts mostly consist of a single producer/DJ. What's your backgrounds? How'd you connect and decide to make music?
T - We all have individual musical backgrounds. Chris grew up listening to rock and metal, Jon grew up listening to hip hop and Matt grew up listening to video games. 10 years ago, Chris and Matt were both DJs in their local EDM scene in New England and Jon was also around the area MCing. Matt and Chris started writing some tracks together in Matt 's bedroom. In 2004, after making more tracks and doing some name changes, they joined forces with Jon to turn into the voltron that is now Terravita/ Hot Pink Delorean. Being in a group isn't that unusual....ie Pendulum, Noisia, Chase & Status, Nero, Evol Intent...there's a lot of groups.
B - You've also got the sweet-ass group 'Hot Pink Delorean', or 'HPD', which features many influences, prominently some pretty swingin' electro. did you start this up at before, at the same time, or after?
B - Let each person in the group pitch in 2 words to create a sentence!
T - On the unicorn planet, the bass tomatoes go ball fishing. Can you guess which words we pitched in?
B - Terravita has many unique songs, but you still manage to tie everything together in a fashion that makes you recognize the individual Terravita sound. What's the staple inspirational process for creating a new banger?
T - The song writing and the sound design process usually happens separately. Sometimes we'll write our ideas down and then make the sounds fancy later. Other times we just make loud noises and drop them into tunes we're working on. The song writing is random inspiration from one moment to the next. Sometimes a good idea will come to mind and one of us will hum it into a voice memo on their mobile to use later.
B - What kind of gear/DAWs do you use in the studio, versus live? Does each of you have an individual preference?
T - Cubase 6 on a really fast laptop with a RME Babyface external audio interface. For plug-ins, we use Native Instruments for synths (Massive, FM8, Absynth) For mixing and mastering plugins , we use almost exclusively Izotope products. Matt has done preset design and content for the factory sound banks of several Izotope products including Ozone 4, Alloy and BT's Stutter edit.
B - The 'Are You Ready For Me' you're releasing sounded like a real hype-tune on the preview. Is having rapper vocals something you've wanted to do for long in a Terravita song, or have you perhaps used them before?
T - We've used them before but not to such a capacity. Jon is a rapper/ MC so expect more tunes with lyrics on it.
B - We've had some really great dubstep artists play here in Sweden, Flux, Doctor P, DatsiK, Skrillex etc. We really need you as well! Got plans for a Europe tour any time soon?

T - Hot Pink Delorean came much later. About 3 years after Terravita. It was conceived by us being backed up on our Terravita releases just waiting for them to come out. We had a lot of friends that were into the "Blog House" movement which was huge at the time So we figured why not try our hand at it.

T - Unfortunately, due to our Hot Pink Delorean lp release tour on top of our Terravita tour commitments stateside and in Australia, we won't be touring europe until February 2012. We love Sweden, so we will make sure you are the first to know when we are booking. Your party sounds awesome!
B - What artists would you like to collab with, and why?
B - What artists would you like to collab with, and why?
T - Herman Lee from Dragonforce because one of those power metal solos would destroy over a drumstep tune. Juston Timberlake because it ain't gay if it's a 3 way. Outkast, because Jon has hair envy of Andre 3000 and Big Boi knows how to party.
B - To what lengths will you go to stay in shape with the scene? Electronic music is developing quicker than an antelope can run, will you be lions?

T - We're more like crocodiles in the electronic scene: We've been around forever, but we get to eat lions and antelope sometimes.
B - We've come to the must-have interview question for BASSPOLICE. If you could bring 3 lizards with you into space, what would you name them? (You may choose 1 each, do all 3 separately or fight about it, really it's all yours!)

Zomboy - Game Time EP / Nostalgia - Desire Preview
So, since there was no post yesterday, both these ones are short, and I'm low on time, I'll be making this double-up post today. First off! You remember Zomboy right? He made that Bass Cannon remix that rivaled the original big time, and he recently released one of the tunes from his new EP on UKF. That one's called Organ Donor, search for it! Anyway, I like how it's never really distinct whether it's drumstep or dubstep, and the sound is kinda like, the Tomba Raindrops remix or something Skrillex might cook up.
You can download it fairly cheap here, which I think you should do, totally worth it.
Nostalgia - Desire (clip) by Nostalgia
Nostalgia released this lil' thing like, yesterday? 2 days ago? Not sure, is sounding reeeal promising tho. We're always fans of some Nostalgia action amirite? Ye.
Gotta scoot, stay tuned!
