RAMsterdam 2013 is a marvelous 15-track release from RAM Records, featuring d&b from many artists you are probably familiar with, and possibly some new names as well. Lots of different approaches and sounds to be found here, from more 'laid back' and liquid old-school type d&b to the newer, more in-your-face and more futuristic approach. A few of the tracks became my favorites of course. Number one would be the embedded track, "Bluescreens" from Strike One. I don't really have to say much about it, put on a pair of headphones, crank up the volume and listen closely! Really liked "Warrior" by Loadstar as well, with a classic break approach, I feel it being similar to "Shellshock" which is a good thing indeed. If squares and hectic melodies are your thing, you'll probably also like "Let The Story Begin" by Sub Focus, I sure did. So if you're looking for some great drum and bass, from artists you can trust to deliver (Noisia, Wilkinson, Loadstar, Calyx & TeeBee amongst others) but also try something new, I definitely recommend getting this album for the handful of dollars that it would cost you. Get it here! No copyright infringement intended. All cred goes to the respective authors and labels, as they should!
Finally it is here, the long awaited album by I Am Legion, the super-collab group featuring Noisia and Foreign Beggars. Maybe it became silly to name stuff "Noisia feat. Foreign Beggars" so many times that they decided to make a band? I don't know, it was a great move however.
The first single was really something, 'Make Those Move'. I wasn't too riled up by 'Choosing For You', but interesting to hear some new ground being broken. The full effect of I Am Legion is very heavy in any case, and there's plenty to go around with 16 tracks on this album. Sunken Submarines and Warp Speed Thuggin' are my favorites for now! Get on Amazon, Beatport or listen on Spotify!
I find it fitting for this to be the 200th BASSPOLICE in some ways.No copyright infringement intended. All cred goes to the respective authors and labels, as they should!
Just quickly posting this video that I really like. No copyright infringement intended. All cred goes to the respective authors and labels, as they should!
Some really interesting music today. Fresh DnB with lofty melodies and signature breaks. I liked this since it felt both very new but also very classic. It's featured on a release out on RAM Records, from the newly signed artist Frankee. Containing two tunes, Wonderland and Black Heart. Personally my favorite is Black Heart, because of it's harsher groove and distinct vibes reminiscent of Noisia! Pre-order it here!

A new, great, EP from The Upbeats. Interesting stuff, ranging from mellow to intense, mainly d&b but other noticeable influences as well! A nice opening tune featuring Tasha Baxter (who did a great job on Feed Me - Cloudburn) and also a rough-in-the-jungle tune feat. Noisia!
Nicely enough, the EP is currently there in its entirety, but will be released for sale on April 15th! No copyright infringement intended. All cred goes to the respective authors and labels, as they should!
Following up on the Deviance remix! Here's a whole lot of remixes of the X Rated tunes.
High Rankin's remix of Execute is killer, and Eptic also shows his colors in style with his take on 8-Bit Superhero!
I love this track. There should be more rough-as-hell metal inspired electronic music around. All these artists know their stuff, and you might recognize some of them from other works similar to this!
A bit more than a week ago, I posted the Posij remix of My World, mentioning it would be featured on the upcoming Special Edition release of Noisia's Split the Atom album. Well, that special edition album version has been released, and boy is it massive. Disc 2 contains a bucketload of tight remixes, from names I'm familiar with and some new faces as well.
Haven't really had time to listen closely enough to tell you any definitive current favorite amongst them, but must say so far that Kill the Noise's remix of Diplodocus is sounding pretty amazing, along with Neosignal's take on Stigma. But to be honest, them remixes are all sounding great so far.
My only question is, where is the amazingly awesome Shellshock remix that I was hoping for? :'( /Lekroth No copyright infringement intended. All cred goes to the respective authors and labels, as they should!
I'm sorry for being so Slow with this. Seriously fucking lightning killed my internet the day before I recieved the Terravita interview answers. Yeah... screw you nature, what's your problem?
On to business. Terravita released the 'Dirty Rottun Scoundrels' EP about 2 weeks ago on Rottun Recordings. Having Terravita as one of my favorite groups, I had to ask them about an interview. I listened to the previews upon their released and I loved it. No more space for ramblin'. Go grab a copy of the EP from beatport, have a listen to the previews while you read the interview and wait for the download.
B - You're more of a group, which is quite unusual in this scene since acts mostly consist of a single producer/DJ. What's your backgrounds? How'd you connect and decide to make music?
T - We all have individual musical backgrounds. Chris grew up listening to rock and metal, Jon grew up listening to hip hop and Matt grew up listening to video games. 10 years ago, Chris and Matt were both DJs in their local EDM scene in New England and Jon was also around the area MCing. Matt and Chris started writing some tracks together in Matt 's bedroom. In 2004, after making more tracks and doing some name changes, they joined forces with Jon to turn into the voltron that is now Terravita/ Hot Pink Delorean. Being in a group isn't that unusual....ie Pendulum, Noisia, Chase & Status, Nero, Evol Intent...there's a lot of groups.
B - You've also got the sweet-ass group 'Hot Pink Delorean', or 'HPD', which features many influences, prominently some pretty swingin' electro. did you start this up at before, at the same time, or after?
T - Hot Pink Delorean came much later. About 3 years after Terravita. It was conceived by us being backed up on our Terravita releases just waiting for them to come out. We had a lot of friends that were into the "Blog House" movement which was huge at the time So we figured why not try our hand at it.
B - Let each person in the group pitch in 2 words to create a sentence!
T - On the unicorn planet, the bass tomatoes go ball fishing. Can you guess which words we pitched in?
B - Terravita has many unique songs, but you still manage to tie everything together in a fashion that makes you recognize the individual Terravita sound. What's the staple inspirational process for creating a new banger?
T - The song writing and the sound design process usually happens separately. Sometimes we'll write our ideas down and then make the sounds fancy later. Other times we just make loud noises and drop them into tunes we're working on. The song writing is random inspiration from one moment to the next. Sometimes a good idea will come to mind and one of us will hum it into a voice memo on their mobile to use later.
B - What kind of gear/DAWs do you use in the studio, versus live? Does each of you have an individual preference?
T - Cubase 6 on a really fast laptop with a RME Babyface external audio interface. For plug-ins, we use Native Instruments for synths (Massive, FM8, Absynth) For mixing and mastering plugins , we use almost exclusively Izotope products. Matt has done preset design and content for the factory sound banks of several Izotope products including Ozone 4, Alloy and BT's Stutter edit.
B - The 'Are You Ready For Me' you're releasing sounded like a real hype-tune on the preview. Is having rapper vocals something you've wanted to do for long in a Terravita song, or have you perhaps used them before?
T - We've used them before but not to such a capacity. Jon is a rapper/ MC so expect more tunes with lyrics on it.
B - We've had some really great dubstep artists play here in Sweden, Flux, Doctor P, DatsiK, Skrillex etc. We really need you as well! Got plans for a Europe tour any time soon?
T - Unfortunately, due to our Hot Pink Delorean lp release tour on top of our Terravita tour commitments stateside and in Australia, we won't be touring europe until February 2012. We love Sweden, so we will make sure you are the first to know when we are booking. Your party sounds awesome!
B - What artists would you like to collab with, and why?
T - Herman Lee from Dragonforce because one of those power metal solos would destroy over a drumstep tune. Juston Timberlake because it ain't gay if it's a 3 way. Outkast, because Jon has hair envy of Andre 3000 and Big Boi knows how to party.
B - To what lengths will you go to stay in shape with the scene? Electronic music is developing quicker than an antelope can run, will you be lions?
T - We're more like crocodiles in the electronic scene: We've been around forever, but we get to eat lions and antelope sometimes.
B - We've come to the must-have interview question for BASSPOLICE. If you could bring 3 lizards with you into space, what would you name them? (You may choose 1 each, do all 3 separately or fight about it, really it's all yours!)
T - First we'd put them in small sweaters and teach them to sing. We'd feed them helium and then we'd name them: Alvin, Simon and Theodore.
B - Lastly, throw any shoutouts to your massives' here!
T -HI MOM!
Thanks a lot for your time!
Any time next week my internet will be back, right now I'm on a friend's computer so.
Expect posts next week (hopefully, I can't fully trust technicians).

You know, the first time I heard about Knife Party, I thought it was that other band The Knife. And, if you clicked that link, you probably understand why I never investigated further. But! Then I figured out that the persons behind Knife Party was Rob Swire & GarethMcGrillen, both from Pendulum, and I was like, no fucking way those guys are in The Knife 'cus that would be retarded. I looked into Knife Party, and, they're good. After yesterday, mentioning Crush On You and all, I thought for myself "This songs need a drumstep/dnb remix". I searched for it, found this Knife Party remix, and planets aligned.
I must admit, the Nero version isn't top notch, the intro is great but hell, the intro is almost the same in the remix. Knife Party just took the potential of the song, and made it hard as balls. It shows that Rob Swire still knows how to make 'em filthy tunes even though how Pendulum sounds these days, well, you know...
Really, check out Knife Party, I assume they're gonna be big.

AH JEEZ! In ancient times, before man walked the earth, this damn song existed and flourished within the domains of Spotify. Now, for some reason, the song vanished a few months ago. Since I'm retarded I couldn't find it. But I managed now! I'll admit, it might not be the newest or the most exciting tune, buuut it's still one of those that really sticks. It's a good, but very long, and repetitive. It's wonderful for gaming, or anything that takes up most of your attention, great background music. I also think Noisia has a finger in the cake mix somewhere regarding this song, but idk rly.
Listen to how the vocals are on beat, the flow is pretty dope. 1-2-3-4 etc, although I must admit it sounds a bit bigger in the original 'cus there it's on the 4ths but in the Quest remix it's on the 8ths (this might be complete bullshit but I think it might be correct). A good song, by itself or when you're busy doing something, just shows that DnB can be very versatile yet follow a straight line and be repetitive (In a good way, not like all-radio-music kind of repetitive, suck a dick radio music).

BASSPOLICE is proud to announce it's first interview!
We got a chance to ask some (pretty retarded) questions to Nostalgia, to promote his new 3k mix! He released this when he reached 3,000 likes on facebook, a well earned feat. The interview takes up a lot of post space so let me just say that we love this mix and look forward to future tunes from Nostalgia!
(Tracklist now in comments section)
B - First off, we'll start with the obligatory, weak question, what got
you into electronic music production?
N - Sub woofers. Well, Limewire. Like 6 years ago I went to a “Black Friday” sale at Best Buy with my bro and dad to pick up 2x 12” subs and an amp. The night before that I had downloaded any song with the word “Bass” in it so I could test ‘em out when they were installed. So we got there at 4am, got in at 5 or 6 (I don’t remember) and my EDM music career started at 7am with “Drumsound and Simon Bassline Smith - Jungleist (Twisted Individual remix).” First drum and bass song I had ever heard, still my favorite.
B - You've made a pretty dope mix here, with a whole lotta tracks we
haven't heard and great classics alike. What, if any, inspiration did
you use for this mix?
N - The mix is kind of reactionary to close-minded dubstep fans. I’m not angry at anyone, but I treat my mixes often as “what can I get away with in a dubstep set” lol. I am IN LOVE with the 100-110 stuff that’s in there, that’s not moombaton. It doesn’t have a name I guess but its so funky and still heavy, gets me movin’ like nothin’ else.
B - I'll let the likes of Borgore influence a question here. What would
you do if you was like, filthy rich?
N - Ha, I think we’ve all seen the Buygore interviews... Um, trick out my 98’ Saturn SC2 (Pearl). Buy a Burberry jacket for my girlfriend. And get a house so I don’t have to make tunes on headphones most of the time :/ Oh, and get Jonathan Gering some more V’s.
B - As a follow-up, which live show has been your wildest one to date?
N - Well, at the show I just played in DC there was a patio with 2 foam guns haha. But I think the craziest show so far was in St. Louis booked with the Wolf Pack. I had a great opener, DJ Belly, who brought the vibes up perfectly for my set. Then I played, and I’ve never jumped around so much haha, had to take a min or two breather against the wall after my set. And Antiserum went on after me so that night rocked :]
B - What current projects are you working on? And, you got anything
lined up with any other artists at the moment?
N - Lots of tunes to finish (about 7). One of them is a collab with Halo Nova called “Code Name Polar Bear” haha, big tune. I’m also working on some stuff for school since I goto school for production.
B - For the enthusiasts (me included), what gear/DAW's do you enforce
while creating bangers?
N - FL Studio 10 DONT HATE! haha, but yea, I know all the tricks with FL so it works really well. I got KRK Rokit 8’s for monitors, Ion Desk Rocker lil monitors for a different speaker environment, a Rain recording desktop computer (its big), Akai MPK 25 keyboard, Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1 interface. NI Massive, Sytrus, Zeta +, smamples n such.
B - I know The Hero has gotten a lot of recognition (featured in one of
our posts as well!) and for good reasons. Of your own songs, which
would you feel is the one you prefer the most?
N - Prefer the most eh? Probably the most recent creation, I get sick of songs quick because I play ‘em so much. Though, I always enjoy listning to “Stop Killing Them” (google that shiz).
B - Out of every musician in the game right now, which one('s) would
you want to tour with the most?
N - Vaski and/or Dirty Talk ‘cause I know um so I know it’d be fun. All my DJ idols are from my DnB days so I can’t think of anyone else.
B - If you had to bring three goats with you into space, what would
you name them?
N - I feel like this assumes I’m already going into space (RE: Betamorph recordings) but Terry, Phil, and Tuesday. A goat named Tuesday could bring about so many hilarious situations.
B - If you're still here, and haven't left the keyboard to spite our
stupid questions, got any thing to say to the fans before you go?
N - Appreciate the most music you can. There’s good music in every genre and “bad” tunes may just need a better setting. Shouts to Jonathan Gering, Dirty Talk, Vaski, Oblivion, Bass Violator, Xpresive, Devnik, Sub Antix, Cottonmouth, Total Recal, Widelows, Pete Flex, Stu, Arron O., TC Dubstep, the Twin Cities scene, my mom, JC, and everyone I forgot. Thnx and support your local Nostalgia :]
And big thanks to you for taking some time to answer our questions!
/Lekroth it's probably obvious that we could work a bit more on our interview skills lol

Awyeee! I'm a huge Evol Intent fan ever since I first heard that short snippet of Paradize City in Excisions Shambhala mix. Their new EP sounds great, listening to the teaser and the Beatport previews, gonna have to cough up some dollars (€uros lol) and buy this thing!
The hollow sound on Scavenger is great, gives it a Noisia/Jungle-ish feeling. Oh, Cruise Control, the drop on that tune, well, you know what they say? CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR AWESOME!
Part 2 is out! Seems like alotta people fancied part 1, so I figured I'd feature pt 2 the instant it dropped! The first one was DnB, and this one's dubstep. It simply oozes of Skrillex inspiration, with the beat and the high pitched hydraulic sounds and what not (correct me if I'm wrong, I don't have any clue whatsoever). It's quite good, to be fair though, part 1 was better! But I did like this as well, a banger by all means!
If you're interested, you can buy both part 1 & 2 here as well as a DJ edit of part 1!
/Lekroth seriously pt 1 gets better everytime i listen to it wtf

Okay so, we received two opportunities for featuring mixes. One of which was already posted and was great, and this which would be posted so we could feature it. So before anything I'd like to give a shoutout to ProfoundAudio and Eshin, thanks for your submission as well!
This mix that I decided to feature comes from a friend of a friend in Scotland who is a DJ and whatnot, and the mixname is all kinds of crazy! Right of the bat I was like what's going on, but when it kicked in I realized that there were a lot of awesome tracks that I'd never heard before.
Overall thoughts is that it has an abundance of great tunes, it's well produced, edited, mixed and whatever. Really digging this myself and since my mantra goes that I never post anything that I wouldn't put in my mp3, this is definitely going in my mp3.
Keep sending us the promos and exclusives etc, we'll listen to it, promise!

Straight from UKF DnBs channel! I didn't upload this because it was brand new, I uploaded it because it's gooood. Shock One is a great DnB producer, some of you might have heard his tune Polygon or his remix of Netsky's song, I Refuse. Pretty much always keeping it crisp.
This song gave me a Pendulum-ish sensation, with a Watercolor feel to it how it starts, the vocal works etc. But after the drop it gets a whole lot grittier, something that Pendulum seems to hide from these days (srsly rabid Pendulum fans don't burn my house down).
Anyways, lovin' this, available to buy 27th of june. All in all, great job Shock One and Phetsta!

Felt a little inspired by my friends post, so I decided to follow in the tracks of Noisia!
These Dutch mad-men, dropped another EP a couple of days ago, called "Vision Recordings 011".
First up on the EP, is a collab with Phace, called "Program". This beast starts of with a break / neurofunk kind of feel, jam-packed with tons of interesting FX and sounds that never leaves you bored. And then.. DROOOOP!
Nr.2 goes for a bit more classic DnB feel, but with that little Noisia twist, that always leaves you wanting more! Lovin the "wild west" style guitar that comes in a couple of times. This tune goes by the name "Regurgitate". Enjoy!
Noisia's pretty damn beastly. They've got so many great songs, it's amazing how they manage to come up with that much good material. The drum work is always original and it feels very alive and multi-dimensional. We love them here at BASSPOLICE and they're certainly my personal fave when it comes to DnB.
They've got a fair share of tunes together with the lads in Foreign Beggars, most notable is perhaps Shellshock, which is awesome. Contact is also a tune they made together for the Foreign Beggars album "United Colors of Beggatron" and this is Noisia's remixed version of it, focusing a bit less on the vocals and making it into just pure DnB dopeness. It's got a slower, more funky intro featuring the signature Noisia synth work and later unleashing into DnB mayhem (love the hollow snare!).
